Emer Conroy

Hello and welcome to SSGI, I’m Emer and I am a Script Supervisor, continuity girl, scripte, the oracle, girly, script lady or the legal department. I have been called all of the above and worse I’m sure!

I grew up on either film sets or in theatres. My father, Jack Conroy, was a DOP (My Left Foot, The Field ), may he rest in peace, and my mother was a singer who then became an award winning director in musical theatre. My brother, John Conroy, is now an acclaimed DOP and my uncle and cousin are gaffers. Nepotism at its best.

I have been working for over 25 years in this industry, met some great people, travelled to amazing countries and have had experiences I will never forget from the sublime to the ridiculous. Forged great working partnerships with Directors as you will see from my C.V., most I have worked with again and again, and for a time I was put with first time directors to help them through the process.

For me Script Supervision covers all the technical details, the line, script, action, editing. The ability to work and communicate with other departments as we crossover with most. I work digitally, Scripte etc, or old school pen and paper. It is a hugely collaborative position. The most important part of our job is the story, tone, feel, performances and you’ve guessed it again, the story.
